Dear Friends,

I am so sorry to tell you that because of the alarming surge in Covid cases from the Omicron variant, we will not be able to gather together for Christmas again this year. In fact, none of the Episcopal churches in Montclair will be gathering in-person. I am so disappointed, and I know you are too. We have all looked forward to a joyous celebration of the birth of Christ with our church family, our friends and our own families, and now many of those plans are falling apart once again in the wake of Covid.

We are now making plans to provide as beautiful a service of Lessons & Carols as possible online. We will broadcast “live” at 4:00 p.m. from the Church, reading the story of Christ’s birth wonderfully accompanied with Christmas carols from our Choir. Special music will be provided by guest organist, Dan Lotto.

To see the service “live” at 4:00 use our regular church Zoom link:

Passcode: 833859

After 6:00 p.m. there will be a direct link to the service on our website, or you can view it from our Facebook page anytime whether or not you have a personal Facebook account:  Either of these options will make it possible to watch at your convenience anytime Christmas Eve or Day. When you do watch, we hope you will join us on the responses and the hymns, using the bulletin attached to this email.

Wherever you are for Christmas, I hope you are safe, and I hope you are resting in the assurance that God came to earth to be with us on this Holy Night, and God is with us still. In the words of the Christmas Blessing in our BCP:

May he who by his Incarnation gathered into one, things earthly and heavenly,

fill you with the sweetness of inward peace and goodwill; and the blessing of God Almighty,

the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, be upon you and remain with you always.  Amen.

Yours in Christ, Candace
