Advent at St. John's
Advent Retreat: Nurturing God Within – Dec 5–6
(Community of St. John Baptist, Mendham)
Join us for a time of reflection and renewal as we explore what it means to nurture the God within—through prayer, meditation, and community. “Theotokos,” meaning “God-Bearer,” reminds us that we, too, are called to carry the divine presence into the world. This retreat is offered in partnership with Interweave and Christ Church, Short Hills, led by Carrie & Janet Aulet Maulbeck (Director of Interweave).
Schedule & Cost:
Advent Book Group – Dec 4, 11 & 18, 7 p.m. (Zoom)
This Advent, pause and rediscover the wonder of God’s arrival among us through The Honest Advent by artist and writer Scott Erickson. In this beautifully illustrated devotional, Erickson reflects on the vulnerability, surprise, and deep hope of the Incarnation — helping us find God’s presence in the midst of our own ordinary, imperfect lives. All are welcome — whether you’ve read every page or just want to listen and reflect. The Zoom link will be shared via our e-newsletter, Staying Connected. Reading Schedule: Dec 4: Intro + Days 1–8 | Dec 11: Days 9–16 | Dec 18: Days 17–25
A Visit from St. Nicholas – Dec 7, 10 a.m.
The Bishop of Myra (a.k.a. Santa!) joins our service for a special reading and treats. There will also be a Children's Homily that day.
Greening of the Church – Dec 21, 11 a.m.
Help deck the halls after the 10 a.m. service. Hot drinks and treats await!
