Here at St. John's we know that children are born with an innate sense of and connection to the divine. We strive to make sure worshipers of all ages are welcome and engaged at their development level. In the nave you can always find picture books, coloring materials, and quiet toys to help aid those with shorter attention spans in the pews.
Family Services
On the first Sunday of every month the 10am service will feature a Children's Homily. Children of all ages are invited to join our priest at the crossing. Children and youth are also invited to acolyte and read from scripture during this service.
Sunday School
Sunday School meets on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month, during the 10am service in the Parish House. While their parents are participating in the Liturgy of the Word, elementary school aged-children are learning about the Bible and basic Christian teachings through fun and interactive lessons. Children rejoin their family to receive the Holy Eucharist. (Sunday School is on hiatus for the summer but will return in September.)

Youth Ministry at St. John's
At St. John's we aim to incorporate youth into the life of the parish as they step into a more mature walk with Christ. Middle and high school aged youth are invited to acolyte any Sunday or read from scripture during worship. Students in 8th grade and older are invited to dive deeper into their faith through a year-long confirmation program, the culmination of which is a service with the larger diocese where they are confirmed by the Bishop and affirm the vows their parents and godparents said on their behalf at baptism. To learn more about confirmation, contact our priest.

Ecumenical Youth Ministry Project
The Ecumenical Youth Ministry Project is a partnership between St. John's Episcopal Church, St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Grace Presbyterian Church, and Glen Ridge Congregational Church. Students in grades 6-12 participate in spiritual growth, fellowship, and service. Each gathering offers a fun and supportive environment where youth can explore their faith, form lasting friendships, and discover new ways to live out God's love in the world.
Meetings are led by Jeffery Blanford, whose passion for youth ministry and years of experience bring energy, insight, and care to each session. The group meets weekly, with the location rotating among the four partner churches. On the first Sunday of each month, students engage in community service at Toni's Kitchen, putting faith into action through service to others.
