The Little Pantry
A small way to show big love.
The Little Pantry is our way of caring for neighbors through free food and essentials—simple acts of kindness and hospitality rooted in Christ’s teaching.
Give what you can.
Place nonperishable, unopened, and unexpired food, hygiene, or sanitary items directly into the pantry. A good rule: give what you’d want to receive. Even one item can make a difference.
Take what you need.
If you need something, please take it—no questions asked. The pantry is for everyone. Take only what you need, trusting it will be here again when you do.
Location:
You’ll find the Little Pantry in front of the Parish House at 57 Montclair Ave.
If it’s full, extra donations can be left in the Church entryway or Parish House kitchen.

Our Outreach Ministries at St. John’s:
We also provide a home to groups that support the diverse needs of our larger Montclair community, including:
- Human Needs Food Pantry, in Montclair. People bring food for the pantry every Sunday and we sponsor families for Thanksgiving Dinner.
- Macheo Children’s Center, in Kenya. This is our international outreach. We help to feed malnourished children in Kenya and provide them with clothes and supplies so they are able to attend school.
- MESH, Montclair Emergency Services for Hope. St. John’s provides dinner to those in need on a monthly basis. See photos.
- North Porch, for single moms and babies in Newark. Parishioners contribute essential baby and toddler needs all year long and help out at the Newark location.
- Prison Ministry, we help meet the needs of the children whose parents are incarcerated.
- Real House, a women’s half-way house in Montclair. We donate linens, kitchenware and clothing year round to help give these women a new start.
- St. Paul’s Men’s Shelter. Parishioners work together monthly to assemble a meal which is then taken to and served at the Paterson location.
- Seamen’s Church Institute, for sailors at Port Newark. Our “Tuesday Group” knits hats and scarves when they gather together weekly for men at sea.
- 4C’s, childcare financial assistance in Paterson. The congregation sponsors a back-pack drive and toy drive for the children of 4C’s.
